Ocean Conversations with Sam Bencheghib and Sadie Blancaflor- Clean Ocean

Jo is the Head of Campaigns at City to Sea, an environmental not-for-profit campaigning to prevent plastic pollution at source. My connection to nature and our oceans, is and always has been my driving force.

“A few years ago, I was lucky enough to work on a project in a remote corner of West Papua where I witnessed first-hand the impact of plastic on communities and some of the most pristine coral reefs in the world. It was that experience that led to City to Sea and I’ve never looked back.”

Be kind to yourself. Sometimes ocean activism can feel like an uphill battle and it can take you to some dark places if you let it. The threats facing our oceans are so big, it can be overwhelming. Know that what you’re doing is enough and allow yourself to rest and restore so you don’t burn out. Nature has never needed us more, and we’ve never needed nature more.
