What to expect
We designed the Sea7 online event with three phases to represent the journey of becoming an ocean activist.
Immerse
The first thing we need to do is immerse ourselves in learning. Understand the importance of our ocean & just how vital it is when it comes to climate change. But it’s not just knowledge that we need – deepening our connection to nature is fundamental when it comes to being an effective activist. That’s why we’ve built Sea7 in audio as well as video so you can choose to step away from your screen, plug your headphones in and head outside to connect.
Align
The more we learn the more we realise there is to learn – so the next phase is about choosing your lane. We’ll be exploring seven key themes in ocean activism and helping you decide which issue you’re most connected to and how best to apply your skillsets to the cause.
Connect
Once you know which direction you’re headed, it’s time to connect with the incredible people, organisations and communities who are leading the way. We’ll make sure you know who to talk to, how to get involved and how best to get started. Our speakers & hosts will share all the resources you need to take action & inspire the activist in everyone.

More about the Sea7 Sessions
Within each phase you’ll find four different types of Sea7 sessions –
Ocean Insights – We’ve brought together leading scientists, ocean activists & policy makers to explore some of the most pressing issues in the ocean space right now. By sharing their first hand experiences, these workshops are designed to help us learn & gain a clearer understanding of the current situation, wrapping up with a live Q&A session with the speakers at the end of the session.
Ocean Activist Workshops – Activism looks different for everyone, but we all need good tools. These focused workshops are designed to equip participants with those tools and the information they need to take action. The sessions will be hosted by incredible ocean activists who will share more about their work and advice on the practical steps to take to create more meaningful impact.
Ocean Conversations – Throughout the day our Sea7 host Dan Burgess will be speaking to innovators, founders & organisations dedicated to protecting our ocean. Think informal conversations with fascinating individuals at the forefront of ocean activism – translating the complex issues into simple terms & sparking inspiration to create change.
SAS Sessions – Our Wheal Kitty Neighbour and leading ocean conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage will be joining us to share initiatives and actions that you can get involved in in your local area. From beach cleans to their plastic free communities initiatives they’ll be sharing ways for you to get involved in local activism.
Panels – For our final two sessions of the day we’re bringing together individuals who have committed their entire lives to the protection of our blue planet. Bringing their unique perspectives to the table from their chosen paths, they will debate the key issues & lay out their vision for the future of our ocean.
